Amtrak Offers Military Discounts to Veterans
Amtrak offers 10% off and is good for travel across it’s national network (certain exclusions may apply) including the Northeast Regional from Washington, D.C., to Boston, all State-Supported trains, and the California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, City of New Orleans, Cardinal, Auto Train, Coast Starlight, Lake Shore Limited, Capitol Limited,Crescent, Silver Star, Silver Meteor, Palmetto, Empire Builder and Texas Eagle.
There are some caveats as listed on the Amtrak official site, which include:
- The military discount does not apply to non-Acela Business class, First class or sleeping accommodation.
- The above are upgrades are allowed “upon payment of the full accommodation charges.”
- The military discount is not valid on the Canadian portion of services operated jointly by Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada.
- The military discount may not be combinable with other discount offers; refer to the terms and conditions for each offer.
- Additional restrictions may apply.
