Discounts for Military & Veterans for National Military Appreciation Month 2023

May is known as National Military Appreciation Month and includes Memorial Day weekend. We’ve compiled a list of organizations and companies that will be remembering the military community during the month of May. 

For most Americans who are civilians, Memorial Day is the beginning of Summer. However, that day means something else to the military community. Memorial Day isn’t a day to thank veterans, but a day to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. A day to remember who they were, and all the memories we had with them. A day to remember what they did for the United States.

Oftentimes, businesses will do something on Memorial Day to honor the military, and give something back. And while we know and remember the ultimate sacrifice, we appreciate those who do offer a discount or a free meal, to show that they do remember and care about the military community and all we have gone through.

Lady Foot Locker

Lady Foot Locker sells shoes and other accessories. They offer 10% off most purchases for their military discount. Active Duty, Veterans, National Guard, Reservists, and Registered Dependents of Active Duty or Retiree Service Members all qualify.

You must be verified through SheerID. When you are checking out you would need to follow the military discount link. You may be asked to upload documents. You will be verified as soon as possible and they will contact you to apply the discount or give you a refund.

Quiksilver

As a thank you for their service, military members can receive 15% off.

Red Kap

As a thank you for their service, active, veteran, retired, and reservist U.S. military personnel can enjoy a 20% discount on all workwear.

Roxy

Roxy is a woman’s clothing store and they offer a 15% military discount for online purchases only. Exclusions do apply, such as for GoPros. Active duty, reserves, national guard, veterans, retirees, and their spouse or dependents qualify. You would need to be verified with SheerID.

Sword & Plough

Sword & Plough sells jewelry, bags, and more and offers 20% off all orders for their military discount. They offer the discount to US active duty, national guard, reserves, veterans, retirees, spouses, and Gold Star families. You would need to be verified online either automatically or manually.

Vineyard Vines

Vineyard Vines is an American clothing and accessory retailer. They offer 15% off as a military discount for military members. You would show your military ID or be verified online. 

VIVAIA

As a thank you for their work and service, military members can enjoy an exclusive 25% off discount for the month of May.

Holland America Line

Active and retired military personnel can enjoy $100 stateroom credits to be used on any of 500+ Holland America Line itineraries across the world.

Princess Cruises

Active, retired, and disabled military personnel can receive up to $250 of free onboard spending money on any cruise, any time of the year.

GAF

Active military members and veterans get a $250 rebate when installing a qualifying GAF roofing system and purchasing an enhanced warranty.

Sherwin-Williams

Sherwin-Williams is a paint store. They offer a 15% off as a military discount on paints, stains, and painting supplies. The discount is open to those currently serving military, reservists, or those who have served, as well as their spouses. You would need to show your military ID at the store.

Travel Discounts for Military

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is a fun historical experience for your entire family, with hands-on activities to guided tours of original 18th-century buildings, and more in Williamsburg, Virginia.

They are a part of the Blue Star Museum program and offer one single-day museum ticket for active duty personnel and up to five family members to the Arts Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. This is valid from Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21st, through Labor Day, September 5th. 

On Memorial Day weekend, all military, including retirees and veterans have received free admission for themselves and up to 3 dependents.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark

Still waiting on the 2023 discount! 

Schlitterbahn Waterpark is a family waterpark located in Galveston Island, Texas, South Padre Island, Texas, New Braunfels, Texas, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kansas City, Kansas.

Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, TX is offering a free ticket on Monday, May 29, 2023 to members of the military to include active duty, retired, veterans, reserves, and the national guard. You can also save up to $45 online when purchasing tickets for up to 6 friends or family members. You just needed to show your military ID at the park entrance. 

Vail Resorts

Active and retired military and their dependents can purchase an Epic Military Pass for $519 which provides unlimited, unrestricted access to 42 resorts – including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Park City, Whistler Blackcomb, and Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis.

Restaurant Discounts for National Military Appreciation Month

Firebirds Restaurants

NOTE: This webpage is no longer available.  We’ll leave the info here in the event they update it for a promotion next year.

Firebirds Restaurant is a wood-fired grill. Their special, “Treat a Hero” offers a free meal on Memorial Day for any veteran, active duty service member, or gold star family, when they dine with a friend or family member.

The offer is good for one free lunch or dinner and the free entree needs to be equal to or less than the friend or family member’s meal. They will just need to show a military ID.

Hooters

Still waiting on the 2023 discount! 

20% off takeout orders through HootersToGo.com with military ID.

Hooters is a sports bar & grill. Hooters recently added a 20% military discount on takeout orders. You would need to order through HootersToGo.com and show your military ID.

Previous offers have been for current and former military.  They typically offered military personnel a complimentary meal on Memorial Day. 

Recipients would pick from the Hooter Memorial Day Menu by showing a valid military ID at participating Hooters. This offer is for dine-in only.

Logan’s Roadhouse

Waiting for 2023 information! 

Free meal on Memorial Day from 3 pm – 6 pm.  Some restrictions.

Logan’s Roadhouse is a steakhouse and on Memorial Day from 3 pm to 6 pm, active duty and veterans can receive a free meal. This offer is not valid in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Augusta, Georgia.

You will be able to pick from their $9.49 American Roadhouse Meals with your proof of military service. This offer is for dine-in only and can’t be combined with any other military discount.

McCormick & Schmicks

They do not appear to have a military-specific discount in 2023. 

McCormick & Schmicks offers seafood and steaks. They have offered a 10% off discount on Memorial Day to US military members, veterans, nurses, doctors, and first responders in the past. 

Mission BBQ

They haven’t yet announced anything for 2023.  As we get closer, please check back for updates.

Rubio’s Coastal Grill

Still waiting on the 2023 discount! 

Rubio’s Coastal Grill is a grill and restaurant that has previously had a coupon that members of the military and veterans.  The offer had been for one free entrée with the purchase of any adult entrée of equal or greater value.

This offer is valid at participating restaurants.  Simply present the coupon and your military ID. Active duty, reserves, national guard, retired military, veterans, or others with proof of military affiliation qualify.

The entrees that are included are the two taco plates, burritos, salads, bowls, and the Coastal Trio. This offer is for dine-in only.

Academy Sports

10% off from May 1- July 4th

Academy Sports is a sporting goods store. They are offering a 10% military discount from May 1st through July 4th.

You will need to verify your military affiliation through ID.me for online purchases or show your military ID when shopping in person. The discount is not valid on certain products.

This discount is for active duty, reserve members, the national guard, retired and discharged veterans as well as their spouses and children.

Dunlop Sports Americas

Active military members and veterans can enjoy a discount of 15% off qualifying full-priced Srixon and Cleveland Golf products available through online stores.

Leatherman

Veterans and active military service men and women can enjoy 30% off multi-tools as a thank you for their service.

Marshall Headphones

Active or former members of the military can now receive 15% off Marshall speakers and headphones.

Thule, Inc.

Military can enjoy 30% off their entire purchase at Thule.

On Memorial Day, we remember those we have lost, and will never forget their sacrifice, no matter how we spend the day. They are always in our minds, and we, as a nation, are forever grateful.
