About Harley Davidson
Harley Davidson was started by William S. Harley, Arthur Davidson, Walter Davidson, and William Davidson in 1903 In Milwaukee, WI. The first Harley Davidson was ready to go by 1904 and they started selling them in 1905. They built their first factory in 1906, which is now Harley Davidson’s corporate headquarters. During World War I, the US military purchased over 20,000 motorcycles from Harley Davidson. In 1917, Harley Davidson launched a line of bicycles and by 1920, they were the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. In 1969 they were bought by American Machine Foundry and were then sold to a group of investors in 1981. Today, they operate three factories in the US for the US market.
