Discounts to Use This Memorial Day Weekend for Military & Veterans

Memorial Day is a time to honor all those who have served and lost their lives for our country. We take the day to think about the friends and family we have lost, pray for their loved ones, and remember their sacrifice.  

For many people, Memorial Day weekend is also the beginning of summer. This is when pools might open for the season when you know you can put away any of your cold-weather clothing, and you might be able to find some discounts to use, either military or non-military-related.

Here are some discounts we have found to use this Memorial Day weekend.

Food Discounts for Memorial Day

Butcher Box

Butcher Box does not appear to be offering this deal this year. 

Butcher Box is a meat delivery subscription service and they are offering a free BBQ Bundle in your first box. Offer expires 5/31/21.

Joe’s Crab Shack

At Joe’s Crab Shack they are offering 15% off to US military members and veterans on Memorial Day, May 31st.

Fun Places to Go with Memorial Day Discounts

Cincinnati Zoo

The Cincinnati Zoo is offering free admission to the military on Memorial Day for both active and retired military. You can also purchase up to six half-price admission tickets for members of their immediate family. You must show your military ID at the zoo.

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is a fun historical experience for your entire family in Williamsburg, Virginia. They are a part of the Blue Star Museum program and offer one single-day museum ticket for active duty personnel and up to five family members to the Arts Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. This is valid from Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21st, through Labor Day, September 5th. On Memorial Day weekend, all military, including retirees and veterans have received free admission for themselves and up to 5 dependents.

Silverwood Theme Park

Silverwood is located in Athol, ID, and is having an American Heroes’ weekend on May 28th, 29th, and 30th for all military personnel, veterans, police officers, firefighters, and EMS. You will receive free admission and a discounted rate for immediate family members.

SunSplash Family Waterpark 

SunSplash, located in Cape Coral, FL, offers free one-day admission for active or retired military and disabled veterans on Memorial Day.

Reid Park Zoo

They might not be offering this discount this year. 

Reid Park Zoo, in Tucson, AZ, is welcoming military veterans, active duty, and their families as well as families of deployed military into the zoo with a special discount on Monday, May 31st, from 9 am to 4 pm.

Furniture and Retail Memorial Day Discounts

Avocado Green Mattress

At Avocado Green Mattress, you can find savings on a few items, from $100 on a green and vegan hybrid mattress, to a discount on organic linen sheets. You will need to use a special code.

Academy Sports

Academy Sports is offering 10% off from May 1st-July 4th. You will need to verify your military affiliation through ID.me for online purchases or show your military ID when shopping in person. The discount is not valid on certain products and is for active duty, reserve members, the national guard, retired and discharged veterans as well as their spouses and children.

Sleep Number

Sleep Number is having a Memorial Day sale where you can save between $800-$1,000 on certain mattresses.


At Article, where you can buy sofa, chairs, tables, and more, they are having a Memorial Day sale that ends on May 31st.

Pier 1

Pier 1, which offers furniture and home decor, is having a Memorial Day sale.

Rack Room Shoes

Rack Room Shoes normally offers a 10% off military discount on Tuesdays, but on Memorial Day, you will receive 20% off.


JCPenney offers clothing, home decor, and more and is having a Memorial Day sale.


Never Forget

On Memorial Day, we remember those we have lost, and will never forget their sacrifice, no matter how we spend the day. They are always in our minds and we, as a nation are forever grateful.
