Carlisle Barracks Base Guide

Located in south-central Pennsylvania, Carlisle Barracks has been part of U.S. military history since before the country’s founding. The site’s military roots date back to 1745, when British forces established what was known as the “Camp near Carlisle.”
During the Revolutionary War, the installation (then called Washingtonburg) became an ordnance center after the Continental Congress authorized it in December 1776. This cemented Carlisle’s importance as a strategic and logistical location.
