U.S. Army Recruiting 4th Brigade Guide

U.S. Army Cadet Command 4th Brigade is located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Unlike some Army recruiting operations, this one is physically located at the base and assigns its troops from there. Other U.S. Army Recruiting operations are typically located off-post and don’t rely on the services of an installation.

Fort Liberty is said to have one of the highest populations of any stateside military base in the Department of Defense. Below, you can learn more about the 4th Brigade, Fort Liberty, the surrounding area, housing, schools, and childcare options.

Base History

Fort Liberty got its start as Camp Bragg back in 1918. In the beginning, the installation served as an artillery training center. You can read a more detailed history at our Fort Liberty, North Carolina military base guide.

Fort Liberty Surrounding Area

Fort Liberty is part of a thriving military community. Approximately 50 thousand troops are assigned here, working alongside 14 thousand civilian employees. Fort Liberty crosses Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett, and Moore counties. It’s located mainly in Fayetteville but also partly resides in Spring Lake.

Nearby attractions include Cape Fear River Trail, the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens, plus a veteran-themed state park. Other nearby options include the 1897 Poe House, Airborne and Special Operations Museum, and Arsenal Park.

U.S. Cadet Command 4th Brigade Mission

The 4th Brigade collaborates with universities to recruit and develop Senior ROTC Cadets. The Brigade also partners with local high schools to run Junior ROTC programs in their area.

In-Processing and Check-In

All troops PCSing to the 4th Brigade or traveling there on TDY orders are directed to check in with the Fort Liberty Reception Company during normal duty hours, after duty hours, weekends, and holidays.

Call 910-396-4250 or DSN 312-236-4250 for assistance. Once you have checked in you have 5 duty days to accomplish all in-processing.

Child Care

Members of the 4th Brigade can use one of 12 Child Development Centers throughout the installation. These centers offer child care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Research your Fort Liberty childcare options at MilitaryChildCare.com, or contact your sponsor for help getting started.

Housing

Housing at Fort Liberty is privatized and operated under a public/private arrangement with Corvias Military Housing. Call 910-495-0878 or toll-free at 1-866-206-1365 when you have orders to the base.  Single Soldiers (SSG and below) assigned to 4th Brigade may be required to reside on-post in the barracks.

Report to the Housing Referral Office before signing any lease or purchase agreement for off-base housing.

Pet-friendly facilities are extremely limited, don’t bring pets without making prior arrangements.

If you do not have your military ID, you will need the following: driver’s license, vehicle registration; proof of insurance. Your vehicle will be searched.”

Schools

Fort Liberty and those assigned to 4th Brigade headquarters are served by Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools, and families living on base “within 90 school days” are approved to attend Fort Liberty Schools, according to the DoD. However, there are no DoDEA high schools on base.

High-school-age students may attend Smith High School in the Cumberland County School District.

Other off-post school options may depend on the servicemember’s address. The Fort Liberty School Liaison Office can help. Call them at 910-432-1023 to learn the most current transfer requirements and new student enrollment guidelines.
