Gas Discounts for Military Members
Fuel costs can add up fast these days, especially if you have a long commute or travel frequently. Military members can use discounts to save at the pump, as we examine below.
Military Member Gas Discounts
7-Eleven
The discount is available at participating 7-Eleven Fuel locations listed in the 7Rewards app and applies to fill-ups of up to 25 gallons. To get 7-Eleven’s military fuel discount, verify your military status through ID.me.
You can combine it with other eligible fuel savings, including 7-Eleven’s everyday 5-cent-per-gallon discount, for total savings of up to $1 per gallon. If you qualify for more than one discount, you’ll receive the highest available.
BP/Amoco
Active duty service members and vets can save up to 15 cents per gallon at participating BP and Amoco stations through BPme Rewards. After verifying military status, you receive a 10-cent-per-gallon bonus in your BPme Rewards account within 24 hours that applies automatically to eligible fuel purchases for 60 days, up to 99 transactions.
The 10-cent military bonus can be combined with BPme Rewards’ 5-cent-per-gallon Everyday Reward for savings of up to 15 cents per gallon. To qualify for the Everyday Reward, members must spend at least $100 on fuel at participating BP and Amoco stations during the previous calendar month.

MILITARY STAR Card
The MILITARY STAR card is available to eligible military members and their family members, DoD civilians, Purple Heart recipients, disabled veterans, and certain honorably discharged veterans with online shopping privileges.
Cardholders who participate in the MILITARY STAR Rewards Program earn 2% back on eligible purchases, including fuel purchases at participating locations. That equals two points for every $1 spent with the card.
For every 2,000 points earned, cardholders automatically receive a $20 MILITARY STAR Rewards Card by email. There is no annual limit on the number of rewards cards you can earn, and you can redeem the cards for merchandise or services wherever Exchange gift cards are accepted.
MILITARY STAR cardholders receive 5 cents off per gallon of fuel every day at participating on-base gas stations. The discount applies at Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Express fuel locations, as well as participating Navy Exchange (NEX) and Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) gas stations.
Gas Discounts for Everybody
The following fuel rewards programs are open to the public, so you don’t need to be a service member or veteran to take advantage of the savings.
Shell Fuel Rewards offers three membership levels. Silver members save 3 cents per gallon, Gold members save 5 cents, and Platinum members save 10 cents per gallon. Members can also earn additional fuel savings through participating restaurants, retailers, grocery programs, and special offers, and they can stack eligible rewards.
Grocery shopping can also include savings at the pump. Several grocery chains participate in programs that allow shoppers to redeem grocery rewards for discounts at Shell stations. For example, participating Kroger-family stores, including Ralphs, let members earn fuel points on qualifying grocery purchases, which they can redeem for savings ranging from 10 cents to as much as $1 per gallon.

Exxon Mobil Rewards+ lets members earn points worth 3 cents per gallon on regular fuel and 6 cents per gallon on premium fuel. You can redeem accumulated points toward future gas purchases, and members who purchase at least 100 gallons in a month can qualify for additional Frequent Filler rewards. Sunoco Go Rewards also offers per-gallon discounts when members purchase fuel through the Sunoco app.
Other options include 76 Fuel Forward, which offers fuel savings when you pay through its app. Finally, Circle K Inner Circle provides per-gallon fuel discounts at participating locations.
