Internet Discounts and Affordable Access Options for Military Families

The end of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) in June 2024 led to higher internet costs for millions of military families. The loss of ACP meant an additional $30 to $75 in monthly internet expenses for many; others may have lost access altogether. Fortunately many internet providers and related companies offer discounts for military families.
Below are some provider-specific and nonprofit internet discounts and other government assistance programs that may help reduce costs.
Best Internet Deals for Veterans and Active Service Members
Cox Communications Lower Rates for VA Pension Recipients
Cox’s ConnectAssist Plan offers speeds up to 100 Mbps for up to $30 a month (at press time) to those receiving VA Pension and Survivors benefits. This is $20 cheaper than the standard rate for the same speed.
While Cox has no other specific military discounts, it sometimes runs specials for vets in different parts of the country. For example, in July 2024, the company launched “Cox Salutes,” offering servicemembers in some areas a prepaid debit card for new internet customers. Check with your local Cox offices to find out if it runs similar promotions in your area.
