Military Discounts on NBA & WNBA Tickets and Merch

Basketball season always delivers big moments, and if you’re part of the military community, you may be wondering whether there are ways to get into the arena without paying full price. The short answer is yes.

From GovX partnerships and ID.me cashback to team-specific offers and charitable programs, there are plenty of ways to score discounted or even free NBA tickets. Let’s look at the options available across the league.

Military Discounts on NBA & WNBA Tickets via Verification Platforms

ID.me Shop

The easiest starting point for military savings is ID.me. Verified military members can get up to 2 percent cash back on NBA ticket purchases. It’s not a discount you’ll see at checkout, but the cashback adds up if you’re grabbing multiple games during the season. See ID.me’s NBA offers.

GovX

GovX is one of the best resources for military discounts on tickets. It regularly lists NBA and WNBA games with exclusive savings for verified members. The most common promotion is $20 off purchases of $200 or more on StubHub. Once you verify your service through GovX, you’ll see discounted listings for nearly every team in the league. Free and Discounted NBA and WNBA Tickets Through Charitable Programs

If you’re looking for more than just a discount, a couple of nonprofit organizations make it possible to attend NBA and WNBA games for free or at a fraction of the cost.

Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix)

Vet Tix works directly with league teams to distribute donated tickets to verified military members, veterans, and their families. Tickets are posted on the site when they become available, and you can request them once you have verified. Learn more at VetTix.org.

Operation: Care and Comfort (OCC) – Tickets for Troops

OCC also provides complimentary tickets to NBA games and other events, giving service members and their families a chance to enjoy some time away from the daily grind. See OCC’s Tickets for Troops program.

NBA Team-Specific Military Appreciation Nights

While most NBA teams rely on GovX for general savings, a handful of teams honor members of the military in their own way.

  • The San Antonio Spurs host Military Appreciation Nights, individual branch nights, and special theme nights throughout the season.
  • Is there a military hero in your life here in Oklahoma—someone who’s currently serving or has served in the past? Share the Oklahoma City Thunder’s story and a photo, and they could be honored with complimentary tickets to a game, courtesy of the Thunder and Dell. The first 500 active, reserve, or veteran servicemembers can receive two free tickets in appreciation of their service.
  • The Philadelphia 76ers team up with Toyota each year for their “Stars & Stripes” initiative, which features a Military Appreciation Night to honor active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. The night includes in-game tributes, fan giveaways, and community-focused activities.

Other NBA Military Perks

NBA Store (Fanatics)

Beyond tickets, the NBA Store gives military members, veterans, retirees, and their families between 10 and 25 percent off merchandise. Just verify through ID.me at checkout, and the discount is applied automatically. It won’t stack with other promo codes and doesn’t apply to gift cards.  Shop with the NBA Store military discount.

NBA League Pass

From time to time, the NBA offers discounted League Pass subscriptions for service members through ID.me verification. It’s worth checking before the start of each season.  Check out our military discounts on other sports streaming services.

Hoops for Troops

Hoops for Troops the NBA’s way of saying thank you to the men and women who serve. Through this league-wide initiative, players, coaches, and legends team up with organizations like the USO, the Department of Defense, and Team Rubicon to honor active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.

The program goes beyond just recognizing them during games—it includes base visits, basketball clinics, exhibitions, and community events both in the U.S. and overseas.

You’ll see Hoops for Troops pop up in different ways across the league. The Golden State Warriors, for example, host in-arena military celebrations and visit bases as part of their 2024–25 season. The Lakers recently partnered with Pechanga Resort Casino to run a special clinic at Crypto.com Arena, where 50 service members were honored and even got to step on the court with Lakers legends.
