About Disney Cruises

Disney Cruises began back in 1985 with Disney’s licensed partner cruise line, Premier Cruise Line. This meant that the line was able to have Disney characters on their ship as well as combined packages with the theme parks and hotels. This partnership lasted until 1993. After that ended, Disney had trouble finding another cruise line to partner with so they decided to design their own. The company’s first ships were the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder with the first sailing happening in 1998. In 2007, the company added two new ships and now has a total of five with three more planned for the future. They also own Castaway Cay, which is a private island in the Bahamas. Their headquarters are in Celebration, FL.
