Service members, vets, and their families can access a range of discounted (or even free) legal services. Below, we cover everything from legal document tools to specialized law firms dedicated to serving the military community.

Military Discounts for Legal Services

While many of these companies don’t have a “standard” year-round military discount, they frequently offer seasonal deals for the military community.

LegalZoom

LegalZoom does not offer a standing military discount, but it regularly discounts for veterans and active-duty servicemembers during Military Appreciation Month (May), Independence Day, and Veterans Day. Check back around those dates for specials.

GoodTrust

Good Trust (via the DoD) offers a free premium plan for veterans to help create wills and manage digital assets. It also offers a 50 percent discount on certain services with the promo code “GoodTrustVeteranLove.”

Specialized Military Law Firms

Wojcik Law Firm

Wojcik Law Firm (WLF), a veteran-owned practice, offers a Gratitude Rate for military members. Gold Star families and disabled veterans (30 percent or higher VA rating) receive a 20 percent discount, while other service members and their dependents receive a 15 percent discount on all billing models.

Edgar & Dow

Edgar & Dow provides military divorce representation across Southern California, including at major bases like Camp Pendleton and Twentynine Palms, with a 25 percent discount to active-duty, retired, and reserve servicemembers.

JWB Family Law

San Diego’s JWB provides a 15 percent discount to military personnel for family law and divorce services.

Viles & Beckman

Viles & Beckman in Southwest Florida offers a 10 percent discount on personal injury attorney fees for active and veteran military members.

Trust & Will

Trust & Will provides a standing 25 percent discount on estate planning documents nationwide.

Barket Epstein

New York’s Barket Epstein offers discounted legal fees for qualifying active or former servicemembers. It specializes in criminal defense, DWI, and civil rights cases.

Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys

Lerner and Rowe offers a “Heroes Discount” for active-duty military members and vets that applies to pre-litigation attorney fees in personal injury cases. This firm has offices in Arizona, Nevada, Illinois, Indiana, and several other states.

SYG Law Firm

Military members and vets get a 10 percent discount on all legal services. SYG focuses on immigration law, specifically helping military families navigate programs like Parole in Place.

Peek Goldstone

Peek Goldstone in Colorado offers a “First Responder and Military Appreciation” program, which includes $100 off basic Will and Power of Attorney preparation. They also provide a 10 percent discount on all other legal services.

Tisdell Law

Military members (past and present get a 10 percent discount from Tisdell Law Firm in Texas. It specializes in criminal defense and federal cases, requiring only a DD-214 or military ID to apply the rate.

LKDLAW PC

LKDLAW PC, located in Oklahoma, is a veteran-owned firm that offers a 10 percent discount on all legal services rendered for current or retired military members. This law firm specializes in family law and personal injury matters.

Free Legal Services

Before paying for a discounted service, check to see if you qualify for these free programs provided by the government or non-profits.

Military OneSource Legal Assistance

Military OneSource is a free, DoD-funded program with around-the-clock support and resources for servicemembers, veterans, and their families. This includes legal assistance to help you manage the unique challenges of military life. The organization helps with leases, powers of attorney, consumer issues, tax assistance, and other legal issues.

VA Online Will Prep

SGLI, TSGLI, FSGLI, and VGLI beneficiaries can access free financial planning and online will preparation services. These resources are reserved for those covered by these insurance policies or those who have received TSGLI benefits.

National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP)

The Lawyers Serving Warriors (LSW) program from the NVLSP is a great resource if you’re fighting for benefits the DOD wrongfully denied. It teams up with pro bono lawyers from top national firms to represent you for free.

The program focuses on four specific areas—Discharge Upgrades, Medical Retirement, Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), and TSGLI claims. LSW doesn’t just take on individual cases; it also files class-action lawsuits to fix systemic problems.

ABA Military Pro Bono Project

ABA Connects junior-enlisted active-duty servicemembers to free (pro bono) civil legal assistance from volunteer attorneys. A referral may be required.
