What Is the Verizon Military Discount?
Verizon Wireless offers a military discount on wireless cell phone plans. Currently available plans include Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus, Unlimited Welcome. There are also additional benefits starting in 2025:
- If you’re deployed for less than 90 days, you can suspend your plan via Verizon’s Military Short-Term Suspend option. It allows you to temporarily suspend your line and pay only $10 per month or your monthly service (whichever is less). This applies even within Verizon’s coverage area.
- If you’re deployed from 90 days to three years, Verizon still offers long-term suspension options that can pause your service and device payments. If you need to disconnect fully, you can either pay off the remaining balance or return your phone in good working order for Verizon to waive the remaining installment balance.
- You can also get four lines starting at $25 per line per month on the Unlimited Welcome plan (plus taxes and fees) and Fios Home Internet from just $45 a month with AutoPay. Bundle both, and you’ll save even more—an extra $15 off Fios, bringing it down to as low as $30/month with AutoPay. You still get myPlan benefits, too, like Verizon’s 3-year price lock on the base rate, depending on the plan you pick.
Other discounts include 25 percent off accessories purchased online, 10 percent off in-store, and even reserved parking at some locations. If you do stop in for a new phone, some stores offer a premium setup experience, as well as career tools, job opportunities, and exclusive resources for military members, veterans, and families.
Finally, if you’re more of a prepaid plan person, Tracfone, which runs on Verizon’s network, hasn’t left you out. Veterans and active-duty folks can get 10 percent off any Unlimited Talk and Text plan that’s $20 a month or more as long as they’re eligible.
Who is Eligible for the Verizon Military Discount?
Verizon offers military discounts to “all US active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard or reserve, and Gold Star family members” according to the official site.
How Do You Get the Discount?
According to Verizon, “If you’re already a Verizon customer, start by confirming your eligibility on the Verizon Plan Discounts for Military, Veterans and their Families page.”
Verizon sends a confirmation email to those who qualify after they apply. According to Verizon.com, your discount “will begin appearing on your bill 1-2 billing cycles after verification.” See the official site to learn more about military discounts on Verizon services.
