Did you know? The State of Montana offers qualifying disabled veterans and surviving spouses a property tax break through the Montana Disabled Veteran Assistance Program. The benefit “reduces the property tax rate on the homes of disabled Veterans or their unremarried Surviving Spouse,” according to Army.mil.
The amount of the tax break depends on “marital status and income of the homeowner,” and the tax rate may be lowered to 50%, and in some cases by as much as 100%. See the official site for more information or how to claim a Montana property tax exemption as a disabled veteran.
