National Parks

On Veterans Day, all visitors can visit National Parks for free as a way to remember veterans. There are more than 400 parks, some normally charge a fee, and others are free all of the time. This does not cover amenities or user fees such as for camping, or special tours.

Amusement Parks

Carowinds

Carowinds does not appear to have a current special Veterans Day free admission day!

Carowinds, a family amusement park in Charlotte, NC, has offered free admission to veterans with an honorable or medical discharge during their Military Appreciation Days, which typically are Saturdays and Sundays around Veterans Day. The discount applies to all service members, active, retired, national guard, and ROTC. You would need to show a valid military ID. Family members can use the Carowinds military discounts when you buy them in advance online. There is also a 2022 Military Gold Pass which gives you unlimited visits to Carowinds and Carolina Harbor.

Legoland Florida

At Legoland Florida, in Winter Haven, Florida, outside of Orlando, offer free admission from November 1-20, 2021. They have not updated with a similar offer for 2022. They also offer Legoland Hotel military discounts of up to 25% off. Active duty military can always receive free admission to Legoland Florida Report and Water Park with no restrictions or blackout dates. They can also receive 25% off hotel prices.

Knott’s Berry Farm

At Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA, you can find Military Tribute Days at this family amusement park. From November 1-17, 2022, and November 28-December 15, 2022, Monday through Thursday, active duty, veterans, and retired military personnel and up to 5 guests can buy tickets for $19.99. You would need to show your military ID or DD214. Spouses and children are not eligible to purchase tickets without their service members. You can also find military discounts at your local MWR/ITT.

Six Flags Great Adventure

Six Flags Great Adventure Safari in Jackson, NJ, is a fun amusement park that has a Veterans Day Celebration the weekend of November 11-13, 2022. Veterans and active duty military offer free parking, admission, meal, drink bottle, and commemorative gifts. Family of veterans and active duty military can receive discounted park admission. Must buy at and redeem at the front gate.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

At Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA, they are offering free parking, admission, meal, drink bottle, and commemorative gifts from November 11-13, 2022 to veterans and active duty. Friends and family can get park admission for $19.99, for up to four tickets. Proof of service is required and you would purchase tickets at the main gate.

Six Flags St. Louis, Missouri’s Coaster Capital

At Six Flags St. Louis, Missouri’s Coaster Capital, they have offered a Veterans Day weekend in the past. In 2018, they had Military Appreciation Days offering complimentary admission to the theme park with a valid US military ID for all active duty, national guard, reservists, and retired military members. You could also get a special military discount for family and friends for $37.99. Hopefully, they will have a similar deal in 2022.

Zoos

Audubon Nature Institute

The Audubon Nature Institute is in New Orleans, LA, and November is Audubon Military Appreciation Month. They offer a Veterans Day discount of a complimentary ticket for active duty, retired military, and veterans, including the national guard and the reserves. You can also purchase tickets for 50% off for up to 4 immediate family members. It is good at the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, and Audubon Butterfly Garden, and Insectarium.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, WA has offered all veterans and active duty military members free admission, as well as half-price tickets for their families from around Veterans Day.

Zoo Atlanta

At Zoo Atlanta, in Atlanta, GA they are offering veterans and active duty, retired, and reserve members free admission every day. On Veterans Day they offer $4 off general admission for up to six guests when showing your military ID at the zoo.

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in Cincinnati, OH, are offering free admission to all members of the military on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Veterans Day. This offer is for active duty, retired military, national guard, veterans, and ROTC. You can also purchase up to six half-price admission tickets for your immediate family.

Naples Zoo at the Caribbean Gardens

At Naples Zoo at the Caribbean Gardens in Naples, FL, they have offered a Military Service Appreciation Week in the past where members of the military, veterans, and their families receive free admission to the zoo. They also offer a $5 military discount the rest of the year.

Sedgwick County Zoo

They don’t appear to have a Veterans Day discount for 2022.

Sedgwick County Zoo, in Witchita, KS has offered free admission to active duty and veterans as well as their immediate families on Veterans Day, November 11 in the past. Families of deployed service members can also get in on the deal with a valid military ID.

San Antonio Zoo

The San Antonio Zoo in San Antonio, TX is offering active duty, retired, veterans, national guard, and reserves free admission. Up to four family members can receive 50% off standard admission at the ticket window. These discounts are valid during the month of November.

Zoo New England: Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo

At Zoo New England, at both the Franklin Park Zoo location in Boston, MA, and Stone Zoo in Stoneham, MA, veterans can receive free admission on November 11th. You must pre-register online. The last admission is at 3:00 pm.

Nashville Zoo

At the Nashville Zoo in Nashville, TN, the Nashville Zoo and Regions Bank are putting on a Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Active duty, veterans, and their immediate families will receive free admission. You would need to show your military ID or other proof of service. If your service member is deployed you can also take part in this deal with a valid ID.

Brevard Zoo

At Brevard Zoo, in Melbourne, FL they have offered current military and veterans a complimentary general admission to the zoo. If a service member is deployed overseas, the zoo will admit the spouse with no charge. Proof of service is required.

Aquariums

Newport Aquarium

At the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY, they have offered a Military Appreciation week around Veterans Day. They offer free admission to active and retired military, disabled military, reservists, or anyone who has served in the military. You must show your military ID at the ticket window. Family members can receive a military discount of $3 off adult tickets and $2 off child tickets.

Aquarium of the Pacific

At the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, they are offering free admission to active military, and veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022. You will need to reserve tickets online. Friends and family can also buy tickets at your local MWR/ITT office or receive $3 off of adult admission, or $1.50 off of a child’s admission by showing a military ID at the window.

Mystic Aquarium

At the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT, they have offered military veterans and active duty military complimentary general admission when they visit during certain days in November. You would need to have a valid military ID or other proof of service. Family members also receive a discounted admission rate of $10 off general admission with a military ID. The dependent discount is valid for up to four guests.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

At the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA, they have had free admission over Veterans Day weekend if you are a veteran, active duty, reservist, or a retiree with a valid military ID. They also offer discount tickets to family members.

Veterans Day is a day to honor all those who have served in the military. There are also quite a few restaurants, stores, and other fun attractions that offer some type of Veterans Day discount, whether it is a complimentary ticket or food item, or a percentage off of your total bill.

Starbucks

Receive a free tall (12-oz) brewed coffee (hot or iced). This offer is for veterans, active duty, and military spouses.

Target

Receive 10% off from Oct 30th through Nov 12th.

Under Armour

They offer a 20% off discount for military.

Restaurants with Military Discounts on Veterans Day

Applebee’s Grill and Bar

Applebee’s, a family restaurant, offers a special discount on Veterans Day, November 11th. Veterans and active duty military can receive a complimentary meal, not including beverages and gratuity.

Bob Evans

At Bob Evans, an American chain of restaurants, they are offering a special menu to veterans on November 11th.

Buffalo Wild Wings Free Wings

On Nov. 11, veterans and active duty who dine in can receive one free order of boneless wings and a side of fries. At participating U.S. locations only.

Chili’s Grill & Bar

All veterans and active duty can get a free, dine-in meal from a special menu on Nov. 11 at all participating locations.

Cracker Barrel

In the past, all U.S. military veterans receive a complimentary slice of cake when dining at any location nationwide. Hopefully, they will add it again this year.

Dunkin Donuts

On Nov. 11, veterans and active duty can enjoy a free donut nationwide, no purchase necessary. Veterans Menu available all day, dine-in only.

Houlihan’s Restaurant and Bar

Houlihan’s is an American Casual Restaurant and bar. They have offered $10 off a $30 food purchase for in-restaurant dining or carry-out on Veterans Day. The offer may vary based on location but was available in these markets: Chicago (Naperville), Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas (Garland), Kansas City (Leawood, Overland Park and Lee’s Summit), Long Island (Farmingdale), Pittsburgh, as well as all 10 restaurants in New Jersey (Bayonne, Brick, Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Holmdel, New Brunswick, Paramus, Parsippany, Ramsey and Secaucus). They also have an everyday military discount of 15% to all veterans and active duty military.

IHOP

Free Red, White and Blue pancakes. Veterans, active duty, and reservists are invited with family and friends to make to-order breakfast on Nov. 11, which includes a free pancake offer until 7 p.m.

Little Caesars Pizza

On Nov. 11, from 11am-2pm, veterans and active duty can receive a free lunch combo, which features four slices of deep dish pizza, paired with a 20-ounce Pepsi.

Logan’s Roadhouse

On Nov. 11, all active duty and retired U.S. military personnel are invited to enjoy a free meal from the American Roadhouse menu. This offer is available nationwide from 3-6 p.m.

McCormick and Schmick’s

At McCormick and Schmick’s, an American seafood restaurant offers 20% off on Veterans Day. This is open to members of the US military, national guard, and gold star parents and spouses.

O’Charley’s

All active duty and retired members are invited to enjoy a free meal from the “Veterans Thank You Menu” all day Nov. 11. Participation varies by location.

Red Robin

Veterans and active duty who are Red Robin Royalty members receive a free Tavern Double Burger and fries anytime between Nov. 11-30 for dine-in or to-go.

Shoney’s

Offering a free “All You Care To Eat breakfast” to all veterans and active duty on Nov. 11 from open–11am.

Starbucks

On Nov. 11, Starbucks will offer a free tall (12-oz) hot brewed coffee or a free iced coffee for veterans, active duty, and military spouses at participating locations.

Texas Roadhouse

Handing out vouchers for a free meal to all veterans and active duty from 11am – 2pm on Nov 11. Vouchers will be distributed in the parking lots at Texas Roadhouse locations.

Yard House

At Yard House, a restaurant with classic American fare, you can get a complimentary appetizer. This is available to veterans and active duty military.

The Nashville Zoo

The Nashville Zoo, in Nashville, TN, is working together with Regions Bank to offer free admission to active duty military, veterans, and their immediate families on Sunday, November 13th. They normally offer a $1 off military discount. The parking fee still applies.

Audubon Nature Institute

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg, a living history museum in Williamsburg, VA, are offering active duty, reservists, national guard, retired military, and veterans complimentary admission once annually for themselves and up to three direct dependents on Memorial Day and Veterans Day weekend. They also have a normal military discount.

Oct. 23 – Nov. 13, military and first responders receive 10% off.

Bed Bath and Beyond

Active duty, veterans, and military spouses will receive 25% off entire in-store purchase until November 11, 2021.

Great Clips

Veterans and active duty can visit a U.S. location on Nov. 11 to receive either a free haircut that day or the free haircut card to use later.

Exchange

Feature one-day-only specials on Nov. 11, including a free coffee for all shoppers at Express and participating Exchange restaurant locations. From Nov. 8-14. The Exchange will also feature deals in stores and online at ShopMyExchange.com.

Office Depot / Office Max

From Nov. 11-13, all veterans, active duty, reservists, and dependents can get 20% off qualifying purchases. Only valid in-store.

Rack Room Shoes

The service member will need to sign up at Lowes.com and then link to a MyLowe’s account. You can also use their discount online with your MyLowe’s account. Then, when purchasing something, you would pull up your account to use the discount. Home Depot also has a 10% off discount, valid for those with a military ID. Free Video Games For The Military

Games to Grunts has unfortunately shut down!

Are you or someone in your family into video games? If the answer is yes, Operation Supply Drop (OSD) can help you with some free games with their Games to Grunts program. They provide video games to members of the military community via digital download codes. This started as a direct result of the gaming trend of using digital downloads for video game purchases.

Games To Grunts Provides Free Games to Troops

OSD has been able to give away over 500,000 games since 2010, and with this new focus on digital downloads, the process will be much easier. Before Games to Grunts, they would have had to send a spreadsheet with gaming keys to a single point of contact on a post or in a unit, keeping OSD from cultivating a relationship at the individual level. They can now connect OSD to the recipient ensuring that they benefit from their services in a more personal and direct way.

What is OSD?

OSD stands for Operation Supply Drop, which is a global, chapter-based, Veteran Service Organization that provides relevant, relatable, and sustainable impact to the military community through social, professional, and service-oriented programs.

How do you sign up for Games to Grunts?

You would need to create an account with Games to Grunts, and then you will be verified through ID.me.

Who qualifies for this program?

This program is open to any members of the military community who qualify for the ID.me Troop ID. This includes active service members, veterans, and their families.

What else do I need to do?

For playing games through Steam, you would need to have a Steam account. All of the current available games are on Steam. They have about 22 currently. They do offer XBOX and tinyBuild games that are sold out.

Why Are Some Games Sold Out?

The majority of Games to Grunts partners donate between 1,000-5,000 keys per quarter. Since there is not an unlimited supply of keys, they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. This is why you will see “sold out” under some games.

Ford offers a $500 Military Appreciation Bonus Cash. This is for active duty military, national guard and reservists on active duty, members of the Delayed Entry/Enlistment Program, veterans within 24 months of separation, retirees, and spouses and surviving spouses plus other household members who are residents of the United States. You would need to confirm your military eligibility, check your email for your certificate, and start car shopping. There is a limit of 5 offers per military member or qualifying relative. This is good on 2022/2023/2024 Ford or Lincoln vehicles

GM Military Discount

Honda and Acura Military Discounts

The Honda Military Appreciation offer gives you a savings of $500 towards any 2022 or newer Honda vehicle when you finance or lease with Honda Financial Services. Honda is known for its Honda Civic, and Honda Accord but has many amazing models.

The Acura Military Appreciation offer gives you a savings of $750 towards any 2022 or newer Acura vehicle when you finance or lease with Acura Financial Services. The Acura brought us the Acura NSX, and the Acura Legend as well as other models that could be a good fit.

These offers are for active duty from all five branches, national guard, active reserve, military ready reserve, and retirees, as well as veterans within one year of separation from active service.
