More About Red Robin
Red Robin serves gourmet burgers, brews, and more in casual dining restaurants. It was founded in 1969 in Seattle, WA. The original Red Robin building dates from 1940. It was first called Sam’s Tavern. The owner changed the name to Sam’s Red Robin based on a song. In 1969, a local Seattle restaurant entrepreneur, Herry Kingen, bought and expanded the business.
They dropped the name “Sam’s” and became Red Robin. In 1979, the first franchise was opened in Yakima, WA. Their headquarters are in Greenwood Village, CO, and they have more than 550 restaurants.
