About John Deere
John Deere was started when in 1837, a blacksmith named John Deere, created an ingenious steel plow and opened a shop in Grand Detour, IL. The company was incorporated as Deere and Company in 1868. In 1918 they entered the tractor business and created the first tractor for industrial use in 1935. They have been creating new products and technologies ever since, including a self-driving tractor in 2022. Their headquarters are in Moline, IL.
