About Toyota

The first Toyota vehicles were the A1 passenger car and the G1 truck in 1935. The first passenger car, the Model AA was completed in 1936. They were changed to the Toyota Motor Company because of what the word Toyoda meant, “fertile rice paddies” in 1937. They entered the American market in 1957 with the Crown. In response to tariffs, they began building plants in the US by the early 80s. Their headquarters in the US is in Torrance, CA and they have 1,500 Toyota, Lexus, and Scion dealerships in the US.
