Father’s Day Discounts

Father’s Day is traditionally observed on the third Sunday in June. According to Reader’s Digest, the holiday was created following the success of Mother’s Day, which became a national holiday circa 1914.

Sonora Smart Dodd started her quest to establish Father’s Day as a national holiday in the early 1900s. According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas, Dodd suggested establishing the holiday for a regional YMCA branch. The first Father’s Day is said to have been celebrated in Spokane on June 19, 1910, fourteen days after the birthday of Dodd’s father.
