About Dunham’s Sports
The first store opened in West Bloomfield, MI in 1937 as Dunham’s Bait and Tackle. In 1953, R.L. Schmalzreid bought the store and relocated it. American Can Company acquired the chain in 1985 and later sold it in 1989. They now have over 230 locations in 24 states and their headquarters are in Troy, MI.
