If you need to rent a car, many companies offer military discounts depending on where and when you travel. Some deals are strictly for service members traveling on official government orders; they can also extend to personal vacations and family trips. 

Military Discounts on Car Rentals

Alamo Car Rental

Alamo offers discount rental rates to current and former military members on vacation, as well as frequent-traveler benefits with its travel partners, which have over 550 participating locations worldwide. Dependents may also qualify for this discount.

Alamo also offers discounted rates at airport locations for military personnel traveling on official business or TDY orders. You’ll need to present your official travel orders or a government-issued credit card at the counter.

Avis Car Rental

Avis offers up to 35% off for veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard members, Reservists, and their families. Sign up for a WeSalute+ membership and enter your AWD code when booking online. Savings only apply to the base rate, with certain vehicle types, dates, and locations excluded.

Budget Rent-A-Car

Active-duty military members, National Guard, and Reserve personnel, and their families receive up to 35% off as a military discount through WeSalute. The discount applies to Budget leisure rates and time and mileage charges. On WeSalute’s site, add your BCD number after selecting your destination and dates. Note that some rental deals may be unavailable during certain blackout dates or at non-participating locations.

Dollar Car Rental 

Dollar offers military personnel on leisure travel a preferential government rate that includes 5% off retail rates, a free car-class upgrade, and unlimited mileage. The discount also comes with on-airport convenience at most major locations, frequent flyer credits, and a complimentary Dollar Express Rewards membership. To get these benefits, book using CDP code 3031396.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Enterprise offers a discount for active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans. Leisure travelers receive a 5% discount off base rates, while official or temporary duty travel qualifies for specific rates. There’s no association membership required.

Hertz Car Rental

Hertz offers discounted rates for members of the military for official and leisure travel. Terms are subject to change; your leisure travel discount will be applied using a special code provided on its military rates booking page.

National Car Rental

National Car Rental offers a military discount via the Navy Exchange.

Sixt Rent-A-Car

SIXT offers active military members and veterans up to 15 percent off its luxury car rental fleet. Savings are automatically applied when booking directly through the military discount page; you just need to show a valid ID at the counter. 

Thrifty Car Rental

Thrifty offers a 5% discount on leisure travel for veterans, active-duty personnel, National Guard, Reservists, and their families. This discount is available to members who book through the website and also includes a free car-class upgrade and a waived additional driver fee.

Fox Rent-A-Car

Qualifying active duty, reserve, and veteran military personnel get 10 percent off when renting through Fox. The offer applies to all car classes at corporate locations and must be applied for online at the time of booking.
