According to TRICARE, if you were recently displaced from an overseas duty station or your home overseas, “you’re still covered by TRICARE.” Displacement counts as a qualifying life event, “which opens a 90-day window for you to update your TRICARE region or make enrollment changes,” according to TRICARE.mil.
TRICARE enrollees who use DS Logon, the legacy system for accessing TRICARE, have a limited time to make the switch to the DoD’s new login system, myAuth.DS Logon is scheduled to be terminated by the end of fiscal year 2026, and according to the TRICARE official site, “each of the platforms that support your TRICARE benefit will switch from DS Logon to myAuth. MilConnect and ID Card Office Online have already made this switch.”
The Department of Veterans Affairs has proposed a settlement in the case of Freund v. Collins, a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of veterans who experienced failures in their VA claim appeals within the legacy VA benefits system.
The Department of Defense fails to provide accurate cost-of-living allowances or COLA for over a quarter million service members due to flawed data collection practices and inconsistent policies from base to base, according to a Government Accountability Office report released in April 2026. That report says DoD methods for calculating these payments rely on unreliable sampling and poor communication.
