Types of Membership at Costco
Costco offers a variety of membership options to fit the needs of different shoppers, whether you’re stocking up on essentials for your household or looking to maximize your savings on every purchase. The two main types of Costco membership are the Gold Star Membership and the Executive Membership.
Gold Star Membership
The Gold Star Membership is perfect for individuals and households who want access to Costco’s wide selection of groceries, electronics, furniture, and more. As a Gold Star member, you’ll enjoy the convenience of shopping at any Costco location, as well as online as a Costco member. Your annual membership includes one free household card, so another adult in your home can also enjoy the benefits. New Gold Star members can take advantage of special promotions, such as receiving a digital Costco shop card upon successful sign-up.
Executive Membership
The Executive Membership is designed for those who want to get even more out of their Costco experience. Executive members receive all the benefits of Gold Star members, plus additional perks like an annual 2% reward on qualified Costco purchases (up to a maximum reward amount). This membership is ideal for frequent shoppers or those making larger purchases, as the extra savings can quickly add up. Executive membership also includes exclusive discounts on select Costco services, such as travel and insurance.
Both membership types require an annual fee, and you can enroll as a new member or upgrade your existing membership at any time. Plus, with the convenience of auto renewal and flexible payment options—including Mastercard debit card, Visa cards, and cash—Costco makes it easy to maintain your membership year after year.
