About Kohl’s
Kohl’s was founded by a Polish immigrant, Maxwell Kohl, who opened a corner grocery store in 1927. He then opened his first supermarket grocery store in 1946, called Kohl’s Food Stores. The first Kohl’s department store was opened in 1962.
The Kohl’s family left managing the stores in 1979, and it was made public in 1992. They did a lot of expanding in the 2000s. Kohl’s headquarters is in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, with over 1,000 stores in every US state in the nation except for Hawaii.
