About Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany & Co. sells jewelry, sterling silver, china, crystal, stationery, fragrances, water bottles, watches, personal accessories, and leather goods. They were founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in Brooklyn, Connecticut as a stationery and fancy goods emporium where they operated as Tiffany, Young, and Ellis.

The name was shortened to Tiffany & Co. in 1853 when Charles Tiffany took control and established their emphasis on jewelry. Unlike other places at the time, at Tiffany & Co., they put their prices on the jewelry and only accepted cash as payment. They also supplied the Union Army with swords, flags, and surgical implements. Since 1940, they have had their flagship store in Manhattan, NYC, as seen in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Today, they have over 300 stores worldwide and their headquarters are in New York City.
