About California’s Great America

They started as Marriott’s Great America by Marriott in 1976. They were sold to King’s Entertainment in 1989 and became Paramount Parks in 1992.

In 2006, Cedar Fair Entertainment bought the park and renamed it California’s Great America. They also replaced all the Nickelodeon-themed areas with Peanuts-themed areas.

The park is open from late March through December and has offered special days where service members or retired military can get in free.
